Eco-Infanticide, the New Chic

Mark Stein on Fox has the video.

From the The Daily Mail (UK): (my comments in red)

Had Toni Vernelli gone ahead with her pregnancy ten years ago, she would know at first hand what it is like to cradle her own baby, to have a pair of innocent eyes gazing up at her with unconditional love, to feel a little hand slipping into hers - and a voice calling her Mummy.

But the very thought makes her shudder with horror.

Because when Toni terminated her pregnancy, she did so in the firm belief she was helping to save the planet....

Incredibly, so determined was she that the terrible "mistake" of pregnancy should never happen again, that she begged the doctor who performed the abortion to sterilise her at the same time.

He refused, but Toni - who works for an environmental charity - "relentlessly hunted down a doctor who would perform the irreversible surgery.

Finally, eight years ago, Toni got her way.

At the age of 27 this young woman at the height of her reproductive years was sterilised to "protect the planet". In all this, the case for saving the planet by not ever made. One need not accept the premise. Actually, I'd argue that single people pollute way more, driving alone, heating homes just for themselves, buying food in smaller parcels that have relatively more packaging, engaging in selfish, worthless hobbies and trips.

But nothing in Toni's safe, middle- class upbringing gave any clues as to the views which would shape her adult life. The eldest of three daughters, she enjoyed a loving, close-knit family life.

She excelled at her Roman Catholic school, and her doting parents fully expected her to grow up, settle down and start a family of her own. Another brilliant product of the Vatican II schooling system.

Toni was happy, at last, with fellow environmentalists who shared her philosophy. But when she was 25, disaster struck.

"I discovered that despite taking the Pill, I'd accidentally fallen pregnant by my boyfriend. The Pill - all the breast cancer, obeisity and depression, half the pregnancies.

"I was horrified. I knew straight away there was no option of having the baby.

"I went to my doctor about having a termination, and asked if I could be sterilised at the same time. "A termination", how quaint, polite and British. Don't worry, the Muslims are having babies at five times the rate that Anglos are. I'd dare say that a complete burqua will complement your looks.

"This time it was a male doctor. I remember saying to him: 'I want to make sure this never happens again.' "Yes, yes baby you need to stay childless for me ... and when you're 40 I'll dump you for a younger woman."

"I've never doubted that I made the right decision. Ed and I married in September 2002, and have a much nicer lifestyle as a result of not having children. Yes indeed, a "nicer lifestyle", this is all about the money, with eco-fundamentalism as a nice little covering.

"We love walking and hiking, and we often go away for weekends. Hmm ... how much carbon do you burn on these trips? If you had children you'd travel way less.

"Every year, we also take a nice holiday - we've just come back from South Africa.

"We feel we can have one long-haul flight a year, as we are vegan and childless, thereby greatly reducing our carbon footprint and combating over-population. "We feel", yes this is all about feelings. No serious environmentalist would pollute the stratosphere by flying to South Africa for the fun of it.

"My only frustration is that other people are unable to accept my decision. Seeking validation of your sinful and selfish ways?

"When I tell people why I don't want children, they look at me as if I was planning to commit murder. You already did commit a murder, so lets get that out of the way.

"A woman who does not have maternal-feelings is seen as some sort of anomaly. These feeling are analamous ... as evidenced by the billions of people on this planet.

"And a woman like me, who is not having children in order to save the planet, is considered barking mad. That's because you are not saving anything besides $$$ in your bank account.

"What I consider mad are those women who ferry their children short distances in gas-guzzling cars." Is that any different than hob-nobbing around the planet in jets just for the fun of it?

The funniest thing is the comments from the Daily Mail:

Has this woman seen a psychiatrist? Human life is much more precious than the planet!
- Bobbie, UK

My reason for not having kids isn't quite so lofty. I much prefer cats!
- Margaret, Devon

So what do these couples want - an uninhabited planet? Stopping having babies isn't the answer to protecting the earth, it's educating our children about the right way to live. Killing a baby, because it's an 'environmental inconvenience' is deplorable. I'm sure that God, although concerned about the world He created, is far more concerned at the vile act carried out against a precious, innocent human life.
- Joy Moore, Bristol

Perhaps a suicide pact might reduce the impact on the planet still further.
- Motionless Cat, Kent, UK

What a pair of plonkers!
Still, the world will be a better place without any clones of them in it, so we have to be grateful for that.
- Maggie G, W. London

Thanks God these fools won't pass on the breathtaking stupidity contained in their genetic profile.
- Kenneth, Georgia, USA

I really think it's great - less nuts about to breed and spread their lunacy to children.

Europe's Orwellian Nightmare Continues

Outrage as EU set to quiz women on their sexual history

British MEPs have reacted with outrage to a planned Euro-census which would demand details about every woman's sexual partners.

UK Independence Party MEP Derek Clark urged women to protest by claiming they are virgins or have 1,000 sexual partners if the proposal is approved.

The proposed new European Commission power to collect facts and figures on population and housing across the EU would go further than any national census, Mr Clark warned.

The information the Commission wants to be allowed to gather includes information on the "consensual unions" of all women in the EU.

The contentious question, set out in a draft of what would go to each household every ten years, demands "Date(s) of the beginning of the consensual union(s) of women having ever been in consensual union: (i) first consensual union and (ii) current consensual union."

Mr Clark commented: "The Commission claims it needs to know all sorts of things about us in order to set policy properly, but does it really need to have such personal and intrusive detail? How can it possibly need to know how many sexual partners a woman has had, and when they were?

"It appears that only straight men are immune from the questioning as by cross referencing the answers it will be easy to know if the woman in question is gay or straight."

He added: "If this question appears on the census form I would suggest that everybody either claims either to be a virgin or to have at least 1,000 consensual sexual partners."

It's interesting how atheists, protestants, pagans and agnostics critique the holy sacrament of confessions, a private exchange of information, and yet these people want to put this type of information into public databases.

Truly a satanic twist and only a matter of time before it comes to the United States.

Pope to purge the Vatican of modern music
By Malcolm Moore in Rome
Last Updated: 2:30am GMT 21/11/2007

The Pope is considering a dramatic overhaul of the Vatican in order to force a return to traditional sacred music.

.....

After reintroducing the Latin Tridentine Mass, the Pope wants to widen the use of Gregorian chant and baroque sacred music.

In an address to the bishops and priests of St Peter's Basilica, he said that there needed to be "continuity with tradition" in their prayers and music.

He referred pointedly to "the time of St Gregory the Great", the pope who gave his name to Gregorian chant.

Gregorian chant has been reinstituted as the primary form of singing by the new choir director of St Peter's, Father Pierre Paul.

....

Mgr Valentin Miserachs Grau, the director of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, which trains church musicians, said that there had been serious "deviations" in the performance of sacred music.

"How far we are from the true spirit of sacred music. How can we stand it that such a wave of inconsistent, arrogant and ridiculous profanities have so easily gained a stamp of approval in our celebrations?" he said.

Indeed, how far we are from the true spirit of sacred liturgy? How can we stand it that such a wave of inconsistent, arrogant and ridiculous profanities have so easily gained a stamp of approval in our celebrations?

Whoa

A Tuscon, Ariz. reporter provides an unbiased report on the Tridentine (Latin) Mass. Great quotes from the laity and the priest and unbelievably professional job by the reporter.

See video.

Some People Will Never Get it.

It is amazing to me, the lurid interest non-catholics take into the Roman Catholic Church's mundane administrative matters. You'd think they secretly believed that the Roman Catholic Church (warts and all) was the one true Church out of which there is no salvation.

From The Naples Times:

Waiting for approval from on high

Ave Maria continues to wait for bishop’s blessing to celebrate Mass in oratory

Thursday, November 8, 2007

There will be no midnight Christmas Mass celebrated in the oratory at Ave Maria.

There will be no Mass at all in Ave Maria’s oratory until Diocese of Venice Bishop Frank Dewane gives his blessing to the new university’s request to have its elaborate 100-foot-tall structure recognized by the official Catholic Church, Ave Maria University President Nick Healy said.

Catholic church law requires permission from the local bishop, or other local ordinary, for Mass or other sacred celebrations to take place in an oratory.

Healy said the school sent a letter to Dewane more than two months ago formally requesting his approval for Mass to be held in the oratory when construction is completed next month. Healy added discussions about the matter began long before then.

A comment from a reader:

Once again the arrogance of the Catholic Church amazes me. They can't hold "sacred" services in their building without the "permission" of the Church (i.e. The Vatican)?

Jesus said in the Bible, "Wheresoever people gather in My name, there shall I be also." (This assumes that Catholics still read the Bible to understand this reference, but I'm not so sure about that in recent years.)

It's the spirit of the gathering, not the place in which the gathering takes place, that makes a church or a congregation. Who does the Catholic Church really think it's fooling?

My Response:

The Mass is a Church function .. and it controlled by the Vatican, this is why the Church is still around after 2000 years as opposed to 26,000 fly-by-night protestant sects.

Jesus is around when two or three gather but that does not make a Mass led by one of his priests.

The Roman Catholic Church is the publisher of the first edition of the Holy Bible. Whether her 1.1 billion members are up on every entry is of no matter.

It is always tempting to drop in a little Mathew 18 on Protestants and the Orthodox but their resistance to Biblical teaching is overwhelming.

18 And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.

Precursor to Suppression of the Novus Ordo

Eliminate the abuse, eliminate the New-new Mass.

From Catholic World News:

Baltimore, Nov. 9, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Baltimore's Archbishop Edwin O'Brien has removed a pastor who invited a female Episcopalian priest to join him in celebrating a funeral Mass, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Father Martin was removed from his parish assignment at a meeting with archdiocesan officials on November 8. The priest, whose unorthodox liturgical practices had prompted several prior complaints, said that the Episcopalian priest had not participated in the Consecration during the October funeral liturgy, although he had invited her to read the Gospel. There were conflicting reports on whether or not the Episcopalian cleric had received Communion; Father Martin said that he could not recall administering the Eucharist to her.

Bishops Pray for More Fodder for Corporate Capitalism

Bishops plan border Mass

Catholic bishops from El Paso, Las Cruces and Juárez will celebrate an All Souls Day Mass on the border, separated by the wire fence at Anapra, at noon Friday.

Bishop Armando X. Ochoa, who has led the Diocese of El Paso for 11 years, said the Mass has become a tradition, with altar tables side by side in two countries...

The Mass, he said, is open to all and will be celebrated for those who have died and particularly for undocumented immigrants who have lost their lives while looking for better lives for themselves and their families.

All Hail, those seeking the $4.00 per hour, under the table cleaning jobs. The illegals want their flat screen tvs, credit cards and apartments adorned with Walmart wares.

Have the Bishops ever inquired in the human rights situation in Mexico? Why is Mexico such a rotten place to live? They seemed to do a good job of this in 1980s El Salvador and Honduras. Why has Mexico been put on the permanent pass list along with Cuba?

Illegally crossing an international border is a suicide mission.

The Tridentine Mass for Joe Sixpack

Parish offers refresher course on Latin Mass, sacraments

"Tridentine Mass and Sacraments 4 Dummies” is the title of a series of courses on “the extraordinary form of Blessed John XXIII” to be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Wilmington (near San Pedro). Norbertine Fr. Michael Perea, the parish’s associate pastor, will teach the courses.

“The Tridentine Low Mass for Joe Sixpack” is the name for the first class, to be held Nov. 7. The titles for the classes to be held over subsequent weeks are “Getting Married the Way Grandpa Did It” (Nov. 14), “The Requiem Mass” (Nov. 21), and “How to Baptize Babies the Old Way” (Nov. 28).

Fr. Michael told California Catholic Daily that one parishioner was upset by the title of the course series. But, said Fr. Michael, it was not meant to be offensive. “It’s a popular approach,” he said. “We want to make the course user-friendly. We want to encourage the average Joe to attend, because it seems that the Tridentine crowd tends to be a specialized crowd.”

This is the beginning of the end for the Novus Ordo Mass. The great thing about the Tridentine Mass is that it is learnable, it's pretty much all the same every week, its the perfect balm from the troubled mind and the busy life. The Novus Ordo Mass is a reflection of the rotten world, the Tridentine Mass is an oasis from it.

Former Atheist Darwinian Philosopher Explains his ‘Conversion’ in a New Book

LONDON, November 2, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Former Darwinian atheist philosopher Antony Flew has published a new book, “There Is a God: How the World's Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind,”, to explain his move from being one of the world’s leading exponents of the pure materialist Darwinian philosophy to belief in the existence of a personal deity who created the universe.

Flew has emphasised that his “discovery” of a god who created life was a result of relentlessly “following the evidence”. “It was empirical evidence,” he told an inverviewer, “the evidence uncovered by the sciences. But it was a philosophical inference drawn from the evidence.”

Flew told Dr. Benjamin Wiker that two factors in particular “were decisive”. “One was my growing empathy,” he said, “with the insight of Einstein and other noted scientists that there had to be an Intelligence behind the integrated complexity of the physical Universe. The second was my own insight that the integrated complexity of life itself – which is far more complex than the physical Universe – can only be explained in terms of an Intelligent Source.”

Never!
