Poland's Nazi taunt inflames EU summit

Germany's Nazi past has returned to haunt the EU summit.

A vitriolic outburst by Poland's prime minister revealed the Second World War bitterness that still strains the heart of Europe.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski accused the Germans of "incomprehensible crimes" against his country, turning what was already set to be an acrimonious meeting into a confrontation between historical enemies.

Poland has been fighting plans for the summit - being held in Germany - to change the EU's voting system to one based on population.

It would increase the influence of the host country, EU's largest with 82million people, at the expense of smaller members such as Poland, which has only 38million.

It would seem the Polish PM has a fair point. Oh happy day, that after only 60 years Germany gets to rule Europe. Of course, us Catholics think in terms of decades and centuries, so this might quite a shocker to the liberals, athiests and protestant who can't seem to remember yesterday.

A Brit recently explained to me that they're forming the EU just as the US formed from different states in order to form a greater whole ... we'll first you need a common language and then you need a civil war to show who's the boss. Europe has had neither of those. Roman Catholicism was the only thing they had in common and their last major war are based on genocide. They've turned their back on the Church and now the practitioners of genocide want to ascend to the throne? Fat chance.

Conceptually, though, I like the population winner take all approach. That theoretically should leave the pagan states in the dust and subject to World Vatican Control. Married Roman Catholics, you know what to do!

June 7, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen is receiving widespread media coverage after an outburst in which she criticized the Catholic Church for its teachings on premarital sex, abortion and contraceptives.

Bundchen’s remarks follow closely on the heel’s of Pope Benedict’s visit to the Catholic country, during which visit he repeatedly restated the Church’s teachings on social issues, exhorting Brazilians to live up to the ideals that their faith professes.

Bundchen, however, called the Church’s teachings “ridiculous” in an interview with a Brazilian newspaper. At one point she made the unsubstantiated claim that in the modern world no one ever waits until marriage before having sex, even apparently calling into question the possibility that a man or woman can remain chaste until marriage.

"Today no one is a virgin when they get married ... show me someone who's a virgin!" she said. She went on, criticizing the Catholic Church’s moral teachings saying, "How is it possible to not want people to use condoms and also not have abortions? It's impossible, I'm sorry."

However, in an interview with the Italian edition of “Vanity Fair” that appeared just after the supermodel made her remarks, the Brazilian soccer superstar Ricardo Izecson Santos Leite has said that both he and his wife, Caroline, were virgins when they got married. Ricardo, one of Brazil’s most successful soccer players, has long been known for both his outspoken Christian faith and his remarkable good looks.

“The Bible teaches that true love waits until marriage," Ricardo told “Vanity Fair”, saying about his marriage, “If our life today is so beautiful, I think it is because we waited."

The time prior to his and his wife’s marriage, during which they conducted a chaste relationships, says Ricardo "was important, as it tested our love." The soccer star admitted that it was not easy to stay a virgin until his wedding night, and that even still there are difficulties in living faithfully, saying that “there are always temptations,” but also says that the sacrifices that he and his wife made for each other have been more than worth it.

German priests reject Vatican directive on translation

Rottenburg, Jun. 8, 2007 (Kath.net/CWNews.com) - Priests in Rottenburg, Germany have voted to reject the Vatican translation of the phrase pro multis in the Eucharistic liturgy, the Kath.net news service reports.

The priests' council of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese announced that the members had decided by a "democratic vote," to retain the current German translation of pro multis as "for all."
The Rottenburg priests argued that the use of "for many" would be confusing to the faithful "in this day and age." They added that the original Scriptural text read "for all," citing as their authority a Protestant scholar of the 18th century whose analysis the Catholic Church has rejected.

"The promise of salvation is directed to all people," the German priests said. "This truth of the faith is put most clearly in the 'for all.'"

Latin 101: Pro Multis means "For the Many". Pro omnibus means "for all". All first year Latin students know this. The text of the Mass dating as far back as written records go record the words of Jesus during the consecration of the Holy Chalice as For the many or Pro Multis in reference for whom Christ's own blood will be shed.

There is no debate. Somehow, in English and apparently in German, this text gets translated as "For All." That dovetails nicely with the universal salvation heresy that current blights the Church. Do they think the Church is a democracy? She is not, she's a monarchy and Christ is the King.

The Germans cite the work of a Protestant. HA, HA, HA. Game. Set. Match. You lose. That's like citing the work of Adolph Hitler in reference to a Passover Sedr. Lucky for us Catholics, the Church is not an open debate club when it comes to the Faith and Morals, we have a Pope. The wayward German priests are free to join any number of 26,000 sects all claiming to be Christian. I suggest they leave immediately.

Certainly, this little tempest points to the folly of translating the Mass into the vernacular. The translation process is an opportunity for mischief, error and heresy. Oh Come, Holy Inquisition.

Vatican City - US President George W Bush drew gasps at the Vatican on Saturday by referring to Pope Benedict XVI as "sir" instead of the expected "His Holiness", pool reporters said.

They could clearly hear the US leader say "Yes, sir" when the pope asked him if he was going to meet with officials of the lay Catholic Sant'Egidio community at the US embassy later during his visit.

Can uncontrolled immigration kill a continent? According to Walter Laqueur, it already has. Laqueur, an historian who's spent a lifetime moving between America and Europe, is a scholar and public intellectual of international stature. So it's news when the latest book from so knowledgeable and unimpeachable a friend of Europe echoes and extends the themes of a pugnacious series of American tracts on European decline. Whether European intellectuals will be able to dismiss Laqueur's The Last Days of Europe: Epitaph for an Old Continent, just as they've dismissed so many other such books, is an open question. (It's tough to discount a book endorsed by Henry Kissinger and Niall Ferguson.) What's certain is that, in the midst of our own immigration debate, Americans cannot afford to ignore The Last Days of Europe.

Immigration Disaster

In combination with Europe's demographic decline and guilt-laden multiculturalism, says Laqueur, unchecked immigration has created a massive and growing population of unassimilated Muslims, hostile to their own countries and determined to transform Europe beyond all recognition, through a combination of violent and non-violent means. "Why had the European countries brought these [Islamist] attacks upon themselves?" asks Laqueur. "Above all," he says, "it was naïveté that had made possible the indiscriminate immigration of earlier decades."

In his concluding reflection on what went wrong for Europe, Laqueur singles out immigration as first among causal equals: "...uncontrolled immigration was not the only reason for the decline of Europe. But taken together with the continent's other misfortunes, it led to a profound crisis; a miracle might be needed to extract Europe from these predicaments. more

The immigration debate is raging right now in the USA. I haven't commented too much on it. My solution: deport all illegals and double legal immigration. Create a great influx of people from a variety of nations such that learning English will be an imperative. What else can a Kenyan, a Swede, a Thai and a Bolivian speak when forced to live together? Also mandatory: a moratorium on Mexicans and Canadians, they're already over-represented. It's also somewhat dangerous to import huge amounts of neighbors with dubious loyalties.

Obama Warns of 'Quiet Riot' Among Blacks

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Tuesday that the Bush administration has done nothing to defuse a "quiet riot" among blacks that threatens to erupt just as riots in Los Angeles did 15 years ago.

The first-term Illinois senator said that with black people from New Orleans and the Gulf Coast still displaced 20 months after Hurricane Katrina, frustration and resentments are building explosively as they did before the 1992 riots.

"This administration was colorblind in its incompetence," Obama said at a conference of black clergy, "but the poverty and the hopelessness was there long before the hurricane.

"All the hurricane did was to pull the curtain back for all the world to see," he said

Hmm ... the poverty of Afro-Americans ... I know, 100% Bush's fault! If blacks in America riot, maybe they'll kill the white owners of the Democrat plantation that they've been forced to live on ever since they got the right to vote.

Faith of Polish new Irish inspiring, says bishop

SENIOR Catholic clerics last night spoke of the "inspiring" devotion to the Christian faith shown by immigrants, which they say is breathing new life into parishes countrywide.

More than 105 parishes in the country provide Masses that are celebrated in Polish, usually by Polish priests travelling to each diocese on a monthly or weekly basis.

The Dublin Polish chaplaincy also recently moved into a larger church, St Audoen's Catholic Church, High Street, Dublin, to provide for the enormous numbers of worshippers attending weekly Masses.

Vibrant

According to Bishop Willie Walsh, the Polish community has been "extremely inspiring" for the Irish church - with his home parish of Killaloe, Co Clare "vibrant and alive" with churchgoers.

"There is certainly a large turnout", said Bishop Walsh.

"They actively participate in the singing and reception of the Eucharist. The church is vibrant and alive every week.

"They are deeply committed to the faith and I think they are an inspiration for Irish people.

"It's certainly reminiscent of the Irish going to England in the 1950s, when they gave new life to the churches over there."

For Fr Pat Moran of St Augustine Church, Cork, the level of devotion is infectious and re-energised everyone who came in contact with it.

The United States needs a bit of that juice and the Philippines is a good source. The Mexicans coming to the U.S. have added nothing. Their country has been socialist for 150 years and the Mexicans are largely uncatechized with a tendency only toward Charismaticism and other occult behavior so their addition to Protestant America is having no effect (at least no positive effects).
