Nominations, Please

Nominations are being solicited for an avatar for one of our posters and long-time lurker here at Ad Jesu per Mariam. A Liberal Friend, who managed his first comment just recently, had it suggested to him that he needs an avatar. Mine is Saint Padre Pio, more on him sometime later.

I'll be starting with a particularly audatious suggestion of St James the Moor Slayer.

I'll take nominations for a month, post them here with some explanatory notes and then maybe we'll have the first poll on this blog (assuming I can figure that out) and then we'll vote. A Liberal Friend wants to remind everyone that he is quite liberal and he wants a proper avatar. (Note: this is a Roman Catholic blog, so there will be voting of sorts but this is not a dammned democracy, so no Karl Marx orJosef Stalin. I hope to keep A Liberal Friend around but I don't want to be looking at communist bastards.)

First Nomination:
St James the Moor Slayer, doing his thing. Our spanish speaking friends call him Santiago Matamoros. From www.opusdeialert.com :
Catholic Church to this day, celebrates the miraculous appearance of St. James the Apostle, to the Catholic Armies of Spain in the 11th Century. St. James lead the Spanish Catholic Militia to triumphantly defeat the infidel Mohammedans (Moors).

All Catholics should invoke this Holy Apostle of Jesus Christ, asking his powerful intercession to once again, throw back the idolatrous Muslim hordes that are wreaking havoc on the vestige of what is left of Western Civilization.

It's a Grand Ole Flag

Lot's of flag talk over at Against All Heresies.

Over the course of the week my eye caught these stories:

A public school teacher will not be arrested or charged after setting fire to an American flag in a public high school.

A guy will be arrested for burning a Mexican flag. (I think the crime that he'll be charged with is Failure to Practice Diversity.)

Kids in a Texas public school being led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Mexican flag.

Well, this post is flyin' my two: The Vatican and the U.S. The Vatican City State, of course, is above signifying it's higher rank.

Pat Buchanan: Impeach Bush over illegal aliens

Roman Catholic political thinker and Latin Mass attendee Patrick J. Buchanan has drawn the logical conclusion for people on the heels of his new book, State of Emergency: The Third World Invasion and Conquest of America. That is, impeach Bush for letting in the illegal immigrants stay, not impeach him for failing to give them $66,000 per annum jobs Mass Highway jobs, as local liberals would want.

"I think he's committed an impeachable offense in refusing to enforce the
immigration laws and in failing to uphold the Constitution by defending the
states against this invasion," Buchanan told radio talk-show host Curt Smith this weekend on National Public Radio stations in upstate New York.

"When you have 6 million people apprehended on the border
and several million got in on your watch – and you have the ability to stop it –
I think you're derelict in your duty," he said. "And if the president says 'I
can't do it,' you need a new president who will do it."

"This is not Ellis Island," said Buchanan. "This is an invasion."

I like Pat, but being impoverished, I don't buy books, but if I did then I would buy this one.

There's another scenario for the impeachment (and subsequent execution for treason) of the President of the U.S. Here it is as outlined by Jay Severin from Extreme Games, a nationally syndicated talk radio show: If the President knew for a fact that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq that threatened the United States but invaded on a lie then he would be guilty of treason and of the murder of each one of the deaths of U.S. soldiers who met their end there.

Jay lists other reason for the trial and execution of Billy Clintoon, but that there are bandwidth capacity issues with listing them all.

Jay's weapons of mass destruction thingy gets tricky to prove, but 12-20 million criminal invaders are not.

Election Time in the B(G)ay State - The Corner Office

The Editorial Board and staff writers at Ad Jesu per Mariam isn't getting too worked up about the upcoming political season in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Both candidates for governor, Kerry Healy (R), an Episcopalian, and Deval Patrick (D), a Presbyterian, are very strict in towing the lines of their respective religions in regard to abortion, stem cell research and homsexual "marriage." (Call it the tri-fecta). I give them credit for slavishly following the dictates of their false sects.

Attorney General Tom Reilly is a de-facto excommunicant from the Roman Catholic Church due to his position on the tri-fecta. If he had been nominated then this blog would have come out with guns blazing (especially if he claimed to be a practicing Roman Catholic.)

There will be crosstalk about taxes, illegal immigrants, auto insurance, the budget, the Big Dig and affirmative action but those issue are powered by forces bigger than measly Governors.

The bottom line is that this state is losing people in droves, many murdered in the womb or chopped up in labs. There is little to do but pray.

New Look, New Stuff

The new Catholic Mass is called the Novus Ordo (1969 - present). The Tridentine is the same Mass that had existed since around 500 A.D. but it just got a few finishing touches around the time of the Council of Trent (1545-1563). The Tridentine has fallen into disuse and it barely tolerated at all in the Roman Catholic Church at this time.

I offer the two for consideration.

First the Novus Ordo as officiated this year by Cardinal Roger Mahoney of Los Angeles, California, USA.

Then, a Tridentine Mass filmed on Easter Sunday in 1941 at Our Lady of Sorrows church in Chicago. The film presents the ceremonies of the Missa Solemnis or Solemn High Mass in full detail with narration by then-Mgr. Fulton J. Sheen.

New Look, Same Stuff

Just changed the template to something I hadn't seen before. I had used the same template as a formerly active blog that I liked but I'm all grown up now.

I'm going to take a shot at adding music and branching out a little bit. I can summon some pretty strong sentiments about music especially in the context of church going. Church-goers as well as my unchurched readers (you know you are) will be able to relate to this hot-button topic.

The Blood of Martyrs is the Seed of the Church

From the Associated Press:
...Sister Leonella was shot in the back four times by pistol-wielding attackers as she left the Austrian-run S.O.S. hospital. Her bodyguard also was slain. The two had been walking the 10 meters (30 feet) from the Mogadishu hospital to the sister's home, where three other nuns were waiting to have lunch with her. "The gunmen specifically targeted her," Huber said. "They were waiting for her. As she crossed the road they opened fire. We had no warning of this." Sister Leonella, whose birth name was Rosa Sgorbati, had lived and worked in Kenya and Somalia for 38 years, her family said.

Sister Leonella, 65, muttered the words 'I forgive, I forgive' in Italian after being targeted by gunmen in an apparent execution-style killing, Father Maloba Wesonga told The Associated Press at the nun's memorial mass in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Monday.
I forgive, I forgive ... and for those words, dear Sister, you very likely sit at the feet of the Lord.

Arsenal 1 - Manchester United 0

Well, they finally did it and without the much heralded Thierry Henry. Worse than that, Robin Van Persie came up injure, too. Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger devised a masterful stroke of genius ... play 4-5-1 against Man U. (4-5-1 is 4 defenders, 5 midfielders, 1 striker)

Normally, I hate 4-5-1, too BORING. But Manchester United could never get past Arsenal’s midfield. From the on set, Arsenal went on the attack on the shoulders of Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor, the Togo international. I had never seen Adebayor play but I was pleased right away. He looks about 6'3" and has the legs of a 7 footer. At the 80th minute he was still plugging away, running, challenging, lurking amongst the ManU defenders. Note that Arsenal was playing 4-5-1 which means Adebayor, as a striker, was doing double work at times.

There were many close moments including a finger-tip save by the Arsenal goal keeper delivered by Manchester’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (a.k.a. Baby-faced assassin.) Arsenal had their chances, too, but they were playing ball possession all the way by bringing tons of energy and exacting passing.

On a Manchester turnover, the ball came to Cesc Fabregas and it seemed to stick to him as if on a rope. Cesc slid it over to Adebayor and the big man knocked it in at the 86th minute.

Now, for a Roman Catholic sidenote: Adebayor (picture at right) crossed himself three times as he left the pitch so he is going on my list of Roman Catholic all-stars. I’ve been participating in goal.com’s Fantasy league and for fun I was thinking of constructing an all-Roman Catholic team. Adebayor would make a good pick.

Places to Go: Holy Trinity Church in Boston

Ushering in an era of catacomb Catholicism, Cardinal O'Malley slowly manuevers against the enemy of Modernism: The Tridentine Mass. Read more here at Against All Heresies and here at South End News (Boston, MA)

Boston denizens and visitors should consider popping in to go to Mass at Holy Trinity . It would be of particular interest to those from Roman Catholic origens to see the Mass of their grandparents, of their grandparents' grandparents, of Christopher Columbus, Saint Francis and Saint Augustine. (this may require dressing at least to the level of suitable business attire i.e. no flip-flops.)

The parish hosts a "schola" which belts out some very fine Gregorian Chant, the only music really suitable for Christian religious worship.

Also, it would be intersting to see at the 11:30 am Mass, the Tridentine Mass, what specifically the Archdiocese and the Vatican have seemed intent on wiping off the face of the earth, a Mass accurately described as "the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven."

For decades, Roman Catholic bishops and cardinals displayed an inability to detect and eliminate predatory rapists from their ranks .... no such administrative problems can be observed in their insidious elimination of the Mass that Holy Mother Church preserved for millenia, that survived the Mogul hoardes, the Saracens, the Plague, numerous World Wars, genocides and heresies.

It's likely back to the catacombs for the Tridentine Mass goers, it was fun while it lasted.

How Do You Like America, Now?

Screams, torture commence toute-de-suite as Americans turn Iraqi prison over to Iraqis. In a cynical piece designed to criticize Americans a London newspaper highlights the tactic that will be used when the U.S. finally does pull out of Iraq: Blame America for staying out of Iraq, blame America for invading Iraq, blame America for occupying Iraq and blame America for withdrawing from Iraq. I was laughing pretty hard reading this one. (As always, click on the title to read the story.) Warning: graphic images which include Pvt. Lindsey England are displayed.

Tortured screams ring out as Iraqis take over Abu Ghraib

The notorious Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad is at the centre of fresh abuse allegations just a week after it was handed over to Iraqi authorities, with claims that inmates are being tortured by their new captors.

Conditions in the rest of the jail were grim, with an overwhelming stench of excrement, prisoners crammed into cells for all but 20 minutes a day, food rations cut to just rice and water and no air conditioning.

Some of the small number of prisoners who remained in the jail after the Americans left said they had pleaded to go with their departing captors, rather than be left in the hands of Iraqi guards.

"The Americans were better than the Iraqis. They treated us better," said Khalid Alaani, who was held on suspicion of involvement in Sunni terrorism.

"I heard shouting, like someone had a hot iron on their body, screams. The officer said they were just screaming by themselves. I was hearing the screams throughout the visit."

The witness said that even in the thieves' section prisoners were being treated badly. "Someone was shouting 'Please help us, we want the human rights officers, we want the Americans to come back'," he said.

Sorry, Charlie, we're getting out because as our invasion was "immoral" and a "ruse to get oil." Perhaps the prisoners should call 1-800-DEMOCRAT to re-explain reality to them.

I'm humming that 1970's tune Baby Come Back:

Baby come back
Any kind of fool could see
I was wrong
And I just can't live without you

Arsenal 2 - FC Hamburger 0

My beloved Arsenal beat Hamburg, Germany in Germany last night. It was with anxiousness that I viewed the match as Sentanta sports channel has not shown an Arsenal match in 4 weeks! So, for a month, I have been forced to study Arsenal's opposition in the English Premiere League.

Arsenal has had their problems as of late and I hoping a tough matc
h for them would snap them out of it. They have tons of talent on their side, most of young and international.

As noted previously, Thierry Henry did not and in his stead R
obin Van Persie, an enterprising 23 year old fDutchman, started. Within ten minutes, the whole match turned on its head as foul was called on the Hamburg goal-tender as Van Persie attempted to chase an errant ball through the box. Not only did a penalty shot get awarded but the goaltender was red-carded which means he was kicked out and thusly, Hamburg would have to play the rest of the match with only ten men.

Arsenal took advantage of the penalty shot by scoring on the foot of their Brazilian defender Gilberto. Upon viewing of the replay a few times I don’t blame the referee for making the call that he did but I’d call van Persie’s action a definite dive. See for yourself here. The sad thing was the shot of the grief stricken German goaltender who stood in the runway after getting sent off.

I sure hope I don’t see anything as disgusting as that in the Premiership, World Cup and UEFA soccer is enough. Ironically, I think van Persie hurt Arsenal. What Arsenal needed was a real struggle, possibly even a loss to snap them out of their funk. They have tons of talent but they diddle and daddle trying to make the perfect play.

What is needed is no-nonsense, direct attacking. Instead, van Persie arranged for an easy night which Arsenal almost managed to screw up with lax and indecisive play for the balance of 80 minutes. On Saturday, Arsenal meets Manchester United. I hope van Persie is well rested.

Henry to miss Hamburg clash

From www.soccerway.com:

Written by: Stephen Sharp
LONDON, Sep 12 (SW) - Arsenal striker Thierry Henry will not play against Hamburg in the Champions League on Wednesday after suffering a foot injury while on France duty.

According to the club, Henry picked up in the knock during France's 3-1 Euro 2008 qualifying win over Italy last week although Henry did play in Arsenal's 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

Manager Arsene Wenger is expected to field Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin van Persie in attack, with both Theo Walcott and Julio Baptista coming off the bench if necessary when they travel to the AOL-Arena.

Wenger expects Henry to be fit for Arsenal's Premiership showdown away to leaders Manchester United on Sunday.

Good decision, I don't give a crap about Euro 2008. Besides, Theirry Henry is on my fantasy team and I need him fresh. Three of my other players were injured last week and I got hammered pretty hard.

Subscribe to the New York Times, No Thanks

Got the ole mass mailing from the New York Slimes today, and on the five year anniversary of the day of infamy, Sep. 11. I'm going to print this picture and stuff it in their postage paid envelope and let them think about that. When they call, I go on a long verbal harangues against the editorial policies of that paper, against Maureen O'Dowd, Frank Rich, Anthony Lewis, Thomas Friedman and that whole gaggle of liberal toadies.

Speaking of a day of infamy, Tom Brokaw, that worthless, word-slurring drunk, was on Imus in the Morning wringing his hands about the new terrorism in America, of "rage against Muslims." What is it about Tom's misplaced sympathies? Tom went on and on how he didn't think folks in Montana could relate 100% to that horriffic morning five years ago but then caught himself and admitted that those folks enlist in the military at disproportionately high levels.

Tom wondered aloud why we haven't be attacked again. Well, Tom, have you been watching the news? How many more attacks have been foiled over the last 60 months? I've lost count. Mr. Brokaw wants to draw attention away from the fact that we sleep safe tonight due to the violent actions taken by men on our behalf, allowing us to slumber under the blanket of freedom. Now liberals may pee themselves underneath that blanket of freedom, but that's okay. Some will never acknowledge the sacrifices made for them in time of war and peace, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Oh, and another thing. It boggles my mind that we live in a time that liberal moonbats openly insinuate that the president of six months masterminded all these attacks . Others suggest that the attacks on the Pentagon and the foiled one on the White House were fakes. I had one such suggestion made to me in my own living room by a houseguest a few years ago. I will admit that I have never so wanted to beat someone to death with my own shoe as on that fine evening.

I offer a special prayer to Mark Bavis, BU grad, classmate and a scout for the Los Angeles Kings Hockey team who died five years ago. His disciplined and gentlemanly play for the Boston University Terriers from 1989-1993 was inspiring. His career was cut short as he boarded the early morning flight outta Boston headed for the West Coast five years ago. You know the rest of the story.

Goals of the Communist Party (1963)

From the Congressional Record, excerpts from "The Naked Communist," by Cleon Skousen.
How many of these have been achieved? How many are still under way? It never ceases to amaze me, the frank endorsement of these objectives that I hear at BBQs. Many of these things were drilled into me in high school. They are in red italic, my comments in blue. (I skipped a few anchronistic items)

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war. Reference nuclear freeze movement.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war. Reference nuclear freeze movement.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength. Reference nuclear freeze movement.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. Reference most favored nation status granted by the US to China. Pushed by both Cliton and Bush. Al Gore has made several mysterious trips to mainland China.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N. Done deal. Hell, Al Gore practically lives there.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress. Common tactic, reference North Korea.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.) Wow!

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths. Hell, they're trying to eliminate the Pledge of Allegiance in schools.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. One down, one to go.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights. Gay marriage anyone?

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks. Done deal.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers. Done deal. They got the professional ones, too.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack. Done deal. The ironic thing is that the wide spread practice of abortion has mitigated this. Now, the christians and muslims are still having babies so the next attack will be on diminishing the legal rights of parents.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions. Done deal.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. Done deal.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms." Done deal. Especially visible inside the Roman Catholic Churches that undergo architectural renovation, i.e. wreckovation.

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art." Done deal.

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press. Done deal.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. Done deal. Internet is the capstone.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy." Boston and San Francisco are Meccas for this. All public schools in Massachusetts will now be forced to do this. Reference "Heather Has Two Mommies" and " King and King."

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch." Done deal. Mainline protestant churches have been wiped out and the Roman Catholic Church is heavily infiltrated.

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state." Done deal.

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. Done deal.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man." Done deal, visit any college campus. I suspect most honors American history gets taught this way. In lower levels, absolutely nothing is taught.

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over. Done deal, now the emphasis is on Commie China who have taken up the mantle of promoting World Communism.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. Done deal.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. Never knew there was one. Impossible now because it have to convict almost all Democrats and half the Republicans.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI. Done deal. The FBI is inept.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions. Done deal.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business. Done deal. Note Target, Ford, Google.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat]. Note the police inability to arrest illegal immigrants.

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals. Done deal. They have have also altered accepted classifications of homosexuality as a mental illness. Next, paedophilia will be liberated as an accepted practice.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. Done deal. Note the imposition of "no-fault divorce."

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents. Done deal. Note ADHD craze, explansion of "day care" and the tax subsidization of it.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems. Done deal. Note the new "Kill Bush" movie.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government. I guess they flopped in this one.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal. Thank you, Jimmah Carter. Now the Communist Chinese own it.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike. In the works. Ruth Bader Ginsberg has cited World Court rulings in her U.S. Supreme Court decisions.

France 3 - Georgia 0

France dominated tiny Georgia (of course.) The first two goals were set up by none other than that pocket full of dynamite, Franck Ribery. Frank plays his pro futbal in Marseille and I think he was smart to stay there and accumulate interest.

Claude Makelele left the match around the 55th minute and immeditely slapped an ice pack on his ankle. He was the player mentioned in a previous blog who was resisting going to play for France but he was threatened by the insane, pagan French coach with a suspension over on his pro team, Chelsea. The Chelsea coach reluctantly told Claude to go but I'm wondering if he wasn't better off sitting Claude for three games on suspension. Now, Claude may be hurt.

Arsenal picked up a William Gallas from Chelsea and William got to play 90 minutes on the French side. So, it was a good little tune up match for the newest Arsenal defender.

The weirdest thing of the match happened as Thierry Henry was setting up a thrown-in or a cornerkick (I forget which). A fan broke through security and approached Henry with open arms. Henry and the fan hugged and security whisked away the fan. It was actually kind of sweet in a way, obviously the fan was a Gunner (nickname of Arsenal futbol fans.) I've only seen 3 France matches and 1 Arsenal match but I can say this: Thierry Henry is all class.

Final note: Lithuania stuffed Italy 1-1. Hah!

Thank God and European Futbal

I couldn't agree more. When asked to explain his amazing feat, a MLS player pointed upward.

From goal.com:

The [Chicago] Fire rookie [Dasan Robinson] shed former Real Madrid defender Aitor Karanka, and flicked a six-yard header down and inside the far post to give Chicago a 12th minute lead.

"I just thank God. It was one of the best things that have ever happened to me," said a philosophical Robinson after his first ever MLS goal. "I was so grateful that it happened.

In a previous thread, a news commenter bristled at the idea that satanic possession led to horrific acts, because by that reasoning, great acts by people can be attributed to the influence of the Almighty.

Well, one Major League Soccer rookie isn't buying the commenter's individualistic-atheist slant on things. And a fair share of human beings don't either (futbol players especially.)

Dasan also credited watching a fair amount of European futbal which influenced his play on cornerkicks. I wish New England Revolution players would do this, too, because their play on cornerkicks has been weak.
