Indian Gov't to Raise Abandoned Girls

NEW DELHI - The Indian government plans to set up a series of orphanages to raise unwanted baby girls in a bid to halt the widespread practice of aborting female fetuses, according to a senior government official.

Dubbed the "cradle scheme," the plan is an attempt to slow the practice that international groups say has killed more than 10 million female fetuses in the last two decades, leading to an alarming imbalance in the ratio between males and females in India, Renuka Chowdhury, the minister of state for women and child development, told the Press Trust of India news agency in an interview published Sunday.

"What we are saying to the people is have your children, don't kill them. And if you don't want a girl child, leave her to us," Chowdhury told the agency, adding that the government planned to set up a center in each regional district.

"We will bring up the children. But don't kill them because there really is a crisis situation," she said.

On Sunday, police arrested a gynecologist and janitor at a hospital near the central Indian city of Bhopal after the discovery of nearly 400 bones from fetuses and newborns in a pit behind the hospital. It is believed they are the remains of unwanted baby girls.

Asked if the scheme would not encourage parents to abandon female infants, Chowdhury said: "It doesn't matter. It is better than killing them."

A few observations:

  • Renuka Chowdhury gets it. Sounds like he is interested in having his culture go into the next century.
  • Doesn't this sentence sound weird? - groups say has killed more than 10 million female fetuses. Is the feutus not a human? if not then how can she have a gender? Feutus is Latin for "little one" not some sterile technical term which should make one feel comfortable about murdering it. Fetus is masculine in gender. In English nogender gets ascribed to words. So how can this thing be female? Looks like the hand of the Associated Press drone slipped a bit.
  • This story gives the lie to abortion. In America it is always hysterical rare examples of evil uncle raped the neice or threat to the life of the mother which dominate the conversation. Abortions due to rape account for less than 1% of abortions, it is a red herring. This is the 21st Century, in America, no women die from child birth anymore. A friend in the Philippines died due to complications in pregnancy but that is another matter all together. In the USA she would have lived.
  • Police arrested an abortionist. I like the sound of that.
  • How many men will be happy starting 21 years from now on their wedding day.
  • You can see the consistent death ethic at large. Women have wound up the losers in the culture of death, it's just that most don't know it. Women have been forced to artificially render themselves sterile and then force marched into the workforce like drones. Most don't really seem happy about this state of affairs. The irony is that the more women abandon their babies at 6 weeks to rush lemming-like back to work, the more they depress wages for men (forcing their wives to work), for childless women and for the women with kids who are now in school. Gerbil meet wheel.
  • Most abortion supporters also support the homosexual lifestyle so I doubt they'll see the problem with a society 40% women and 60% men, in fact, they are probably titillated by it.
  • You can see the consistent life ethic in the Indian government and I hope we will see Americans opening their wallet to support these orphanages. When Roe vs. Wade is overturned the Pro-Life community is going to have to step up and support legislation and community work to deal with all the babies. That'll mean plenty of welfare spending and donations to orphanages.

No nomination for me this year.

I was going to post the most beautiful grown woman I could find but I just posted a pic of a beautiful young girl.

I say this to abortion supporters, would you kill her at age 8, if not, then age 2 mos, if not then age 2 months in the womb? Wherein lies the difference?

Here's how Alta Vista's Babelfish translated the above comment:

To before shot of the maquillaje and after shot of the maquillaje. And déjeme says to him, what maquillaje of the difference does. It is almost like some of these Web site that feel that a demonstration with all their graphs of luxury and animations of sparkle must put ignition.

Not sure I agree.
