Reason #456,378 Why to Avoid Public Schools

From the Shelbyville Times Gazette:

Global warming advocates target children

One thing this writer finds disturbing about the "global warming" topic
is the effect the constant hysterical propaganda is having on children
who are exposed to it.

Several weeks ago, I related memories of how we kids in the 1970's were told of all sorts of dire futures that awaited us unless we "did something" about the problems of global freezing, The Population Bomb, pollution, oil shortages and the potential death of every lifeform in the sea.

We passed the projected dates of doom with none of these horrors coming true, but now a new generation of kids are having their brains filled with the same kind of scare mongering that was inflicted on us. The tone these days is much more panic-stricken.

And it's creating all sorts of ill effects with the kids. According to a study by British supermarket chain Somerfield, half of young children in that country are anxious about the effects of global warming, "often losing sleep because of their concern."

Well, when schools and the media are constantly pumping this new eco-religion into their skulls, what did you expect? more
During my day it was worry over nuclear war but the teachers did not exactly pound it into us. I thought for sure that we were gonners but that was just me. I kinda like the think globally, act locally mentality as there is something soothing in taking action in your local sphere of influence.
There are reports that children are under stress as some perceive that their parents are not undertaking the supposedly preventative measures in comparison to the school. Soon the communists will want the children to report on their parents.

The way to fix this, of course, is to tell the children that they can have no computers, no television and no battery or electric powered toys. That ought to bring them around.

What is getting bandied about nowadays is a new religion pushed by far left wackos. Children need to be trained to turn the tables on the teachers and demand to know why the schools are shut down for a week in February and a week in April when everybody knows it is a big waste of energy. Children need to be trained to turn around and ask the teachers how they arived at school that morning, did they bicycle?

Cardinal Pell of Australia on this new cult:
“What we were seeing from the doomsdayers was an induced dose of mild hysteria, semi-religious if you like, but dangerously close to superstition,” he said. “I would be surprised if industrial pollution, and carbon emissions, had no ill effect at all. But enough is enough.”
Unfortunatley the climate issue is skewed by international communists like Al Gore who is on the payroll of red China. Al flies there frequently but will not exactly reveal why. My theory is that the communists know that there system is prone to failure and the only way to weaken the west to attack it industrially while China spews unremitting pollution.

There may be something to global warming but one needs cautious about the hype.

I feared nuclear attack my whole public school childhood. I don't think it was just you.

I'll have to ask my kids what they fear. They will probably say something like apostasy or losing the Mass.

I hope.

I remember being totally immobilized by the nuclear assertions of my teachers. Maybe it was a regional thing, but on the hippie west coast we got it poured into our heads every day that we were unlikely to live past 30.

BTW: One of the things they did manage to teach me in school, however, and by about the fourth grade, was the difference between "there," "their," and "they're".
